Västerås is a city in central Sweden, located on the shore of Lake Mälaren, some 100 km west of Stockholm. The city has a population of 127,005 inhabitants.

Västerås is one of the oldest cities in Sweden and Northern Europe. It is predominantly known as an industrial city, but also a retailing and transport centre. The city has made huge efforts in recent years to attract more tourists and students, these efforts have included the extensive works on the old harbor areas to make them more attractive to live in.

Lake Malaren is the largest recreational magnet, with its miles of coastline and archipelago.A major festival takes place along the shores of beautiful Lake Malaren during the summer. Other attractions include Vasa Park and the Museum of Art.

Västerås has the highest bar in Sweden, located on the 24th floor of the city's skyscraper. The Blue Moon bar is the largest nightclub in Västerås.
