Programme content

Year 1
The first year is focused on developing and consolidating fundamental techniques in a highly practical and ensemble-based environment. Alongside the practice of craft, students begin to examine the history and social contexts of musical theatre and explore the growing and diverse global industry.

Year 2
The second year of study is centred on personal development and is done so through a more tailored programme for the individual. After completion of first year, students will choose from two pathways. Both offer an exceptional level of skills training as well as a thorough education in Musical Theatre and the performance industry. The first path, for 'triple threat' performers, gives equal weight to acting, dance and singing. The dance component is significant here, and that makes it highly suitable for those with a strong background in dance. The second path teaches all three elements, but while dance technique is included, the emphasis is on singing and acting. Both paths develop creative and diverse performers who can work confidently across numerous performance styles.

Year 3
The final year of the degree will focus on the integration of theory and performance through a range of individual and ensemble outcomes. Students will perform in full-scale productions led by leading industry creatives and present their work in an industry showcase..

The historical, contextual and business strand culminates here in through A Research Project
