Programme profile
Over the last ten years, the University of Veterinary Medicine has successfully established degree programmes in Veterinary Medicine, taught in English. The University had been successfully evaluated by the Education Committee of European Association of Veterinary Establishments under Directive 78/1026/EEC and 78/1027/EEC of European Union.
There are two programmes available: a six-year programme designed for secondary school leavers and a four-year programme for graduates with a BSc in Animal Science or related subject.

Year 3: Animal Hygiene; Veterinary Toxicology; Immunology; Pharmacology; Diseases in Fish and Bees; Clinical Diagnostics; Parasitology; Pathological Anatomy; Dietetics; Imaging Diagnostics
Year 4: Breeding and Diseases in Game; General Surgery; Internal diseases of small and fur animals; Hygiene of Poultry, Eggs, Fish, and Game; Milk hygiene and technology ; Diseases of poultry; Internal diseases of horses; General Epizootology; Andrology and Artificial Insemination; Meat hygiene and technology; Veterinary legislation
Year 5: Internal diseases of ruminants and swine; Special and operational surgery; Infectious Diseases; Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Ecology

Progression
This programme is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for registration to practise as a vet in the UK and Ireland.
Entry Requirements
3 A-levels (grades between A and E) + 3 GCSE (grades between A and C) inc Maths.
Biology & Chemistry not required but included in Entrance Exam
Six subjects at Leaving Certificate including at least two 2 at H5.
